Report: Real Salt Lake Signs Stijn Spierings For 2026

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake isn’t done fortifying its roster for the 2026 season after reports surfaced that it has added Dutch central midfielder Stijn Spierings.
MLS insider Tom Bogert first reported the addition on Friday, January 23.

Real Salt Lake begins the MLS regular season begins in Canada against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Who is Stijn Spierings?
Spierings is a 6’2″ midfielder who will turn 30 on March 12. The Alkmaar, Netherlands, native most recently played for Bröndby IF in the Danish Superliga.

He began playing professionally in 2015, making two appearances for AZ before going on loan to Sparta Rotterdam for six matches in 2016. Spierings remained with Sparta Rotterdam for the next three seasons, scoring four goals.
Spierings has 35 career goals.
