SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Oklahoma City Thunder have released a press release stating that all players and staff who were tested for Coronavirus are safe and healthy, all tests came back negative.

The Thunder also confirmed that they used a private lab to test their organization.

“Recognizing the stress on the state of Oklahoma’s medical system, the Thunder did not use state resources and chose an alternative path for testing of its personnel.”

The news comes just a day after the Brooklyn Nets announced that four players, including superstar Kevin Durant, had tested positive for COVID-19.

The National Basketball League remains in lockdown as league officials try to do everything in their power to combat the virus.

In a letter to the fans on March 12, the league’s commissioner Adam Silver admitted that the situation regarding the postponement of the 2019-20 season remains “a complicated and rapidly evolving situation that reminds us that we are all part of a broader society with a responsibility to look out for one and other.”

How Do I Prevent It?

The CDC has some simple recommendations, most of which are the same for preventing other respiratory illnesses or the flu:

  • Avoid close contact with people who may be sick
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Stay home when you are sick
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

The CDC does not recommend wearing a facemask respirator to protect yourself from coronavirus unless a healthcare professional recommends it.
