SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Jazz rookie Isaiah Collier made his fifth start of the season against the Miami Heat on Thursday and filled up the stat sheet.

The USC product finished with eight points, three rebounds, and nine assists.

January has been an important month for Collier.

In the Jazz’s first five games of the calendar year, he has averaged over 23 minutes per game. In those minutes, he has averaged 3.6 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.

The shooting still has yet to come around but Collier has shown that he can have an impact on other aspects of the game.

With nine assists against the Heat, Collier not only tied his career-high but did so in back-to-back games.

He now has posted five or more assists in 10 of his 28 games played so far this season.

Jazz Down Several Key Players As They Host Heat

The Utah Jazz will look for a season series sweep when they host the Miami Heat on Thursday night in Salt Lake City.

The Jazz beat the Heat on January 4 behind a career-high 34 points from second-year guard Brice Sensabaugh.

The Jazz will once again be without John Collins, Jordan Clarkson, Keyonte George, and Sensabaugh when they host the Heat.

Collins has missed seven of the Jazz’s last eight games with a hip injury. Clarkson left the team’s win over the Heat after the first quarter due to ongoing plantar fasciitis. George will miss his third consecutive game with a heel injury, while Sensabaugh will miss his second straight due to illness.

The Heat will look to string together back-to-back wins for the first time since the New Year after snapping a three-game losing streak with a 114-98 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

The Jazz represent the third opponent in a six-game road trip for the Heat who will travel to face the Portland Trail Blazers, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Lakers through next week.

The Jazz own a record of 9-26, second-worst in the West, while the Heat sit at 18-17 and in the seventh seed in the East.
