SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz suffered their 18th straight road loss, falling to the Houston Rockets 143-105 despite another record setting night from Isaiah Collier.

The rookie guard led the Jazz with 22 points, matching Jalen Green’s 22 points for the Rockets.

Isaiah Collier Sets Another Jazz Rookie Record

One game after breaking John Stockton’s record for the most assists by a first-year Jazzman, Collier etched his name into the record books with his third 20-point, 10-assist outing as a rookie.

In addition to his 22 points, Collier added 10 assists and five rebounds, passing Trey Burke (twice) for the most such outings in their first year.

Deron Williams is the only other Jazz rookie ever to hit the 20-point, 10-assists mark, having done so once in 2005-06.

Collier had one of his better nights overall, shooting 7-11 from the floor, and 2-5 from three without turning the ball over.

The Jazz guard is only the 10th player in NBA history, and the third player since 2000 to record 20 points, 10 assists, and zero turnovers as a rookie.

Though the Jazz received a blow earlier in the day after learning that lottery pick Cody Williams would be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to mononucleosis, Collier’s sustained play has been one of the few bright spots worth celebrating this year.

Wizards Earn Surprise Win Late In Season

After falling to the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, the Jazz found themselves in a virtual tie with the Washington Wizards for the worst-record in the NBA.

Both teams were sitting on 16 wins on the season, with the Jazz having six games left to play, and the Wizards having seven.

Had both teams lost out, the NBA would have held a tiebreaker to determine who had the worst record and who had the second-worst record before the lottery.

Had the Jazz lost the tiebreaker, they could have slipped as far as six on May 12 when the league held its draft lottery. If they’d won the tiebreaker, they couldn’t fall further than five.

Now, with the Wizards picking up their 17th win of the season, the Jazz control their own pathway to the worst record in the NBA.

If the Jazz lose out, they’ll finish with a record of 16-66, and will have guaranteed themselves a top-five pick in the draft.

These are the remaining schedules for the Jazz and Wizards.
