Jazz Pick Up First Win At Home In 117-102 Victory Over Mavs

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz got their first home win of the season with a 117-102 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
After starting the season 0-4 at home, according to Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell, it was the most complete 48 minutes the team had put together this season.
It was a throwback night as the Jazz celebrated their 40th anniversary in Utah. The players donned classic purple uniforms to mark the occasion.

Defensively, the Jazz were stalwart, forcing 25 turnovers and scoring 31 points off the takeaways. At one point, the Jazz held Dallas without a field goal for nearly 10 minutes from the end of the first quarter to the middle of the second.
Just before the halftime buzzer, Mitchell provided what might be the Jazz’s best highlight of the young season with a thunderous one-handed dunk over a pair of Dallas defenders.

He provided another athletic play on a put back slam just a minute into the second half.

For the game, Mitchell led his team in scoring with 23 points. All in all, the Jazz finished with six players in double figure scoring.
Rudy Gobert obtained another double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots.
Alec Burks turned a strong performance with four 3-pointers made, including three in the third quarter. He finished with 18 points total.

The Mavericks’ rookie sensation, Luka Doncic, was the game’s leading scorer with 24 points. DeAndre Jordan also contributed a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

The Jazz will next host Gordon Hayward and the Boston Celtics Friday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
