Keyonte George Passes To Himself Off Defender, Throws Down Dunk

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George showed off his creativity against Minnesota as he took the ball out for an inbound pass.

However, instead of finding a teammate, George used the defender to pass to himself and throw down a wide-open dunk.

Coming off the bench for a fourth straight game, the sophomore guard finally found his stride in the first half against the Wolves.

George had 11 points and two assists in 14 minutes on a perfect 4/4 from the field.

In his last three games off the bench, he averaged 11.6 points on 27 percent shooting in 32 minutes.

After a hot start saw the Jazz lead by as much as 15 in the first quarter, they cooled down and trailed by four at halftime.

Collin Sexton led in scoring in the half with 12. John Collins and George were second with 11 each.

Keyonte George In His Sophomore Season

Many questions about what George’s future looks like both in Utah and in the NBA were raised in the 2024 calendar year.

So far this season, the second-year guard out of Baylor has averaged 16.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists on 38.2 percent from the floor and 33.5 percent from three.

The biggest knocks on George in year one were his efficiency and turnovers. In year two, there hasn’t been much progress in those areas as he shoots about a percent worse from the field and is averaging 0.4 more turnovers per contest.

That said, George has often been asked to play as a true point guard, which isn’t his forte. Given a lackluster roster, expecting him to become the next great floor general is a fool’s errand.

Jazz Host Gobert, Timberwolves On Winning Streak

Utah will see a familiar face at Delta Center tonight, as Rudy Gobert and the Minnesota Timberwolves will come into town for the first time this year.

The Jazz are currently in the middle of their longest losing streak of the season at seven games. However, starting with Minnesota, they will have four straight chances to pick up a win in front of the home fans.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves have caught their stride after a rough start and have won four straight. Utah and Minnesota will play three more times before the season comes to an end in mid-April.
