SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz dropped their seventh straight after falling on the road to the Golden State Warriors 114-103.

Collin Sexton matched a season-high with 30 points, but it wasn’t enough to get the Jazz over the hump.

Game Blog: Jazz Drop Game To Warriors

Second Chance Points Hurt Jazz Against Warriors

With Walker Kessler (illness), Lauri Markkanen (back), and Walker Kessler (shoulder) out of the lineup, the Jazz’s lack of size hurt them for the second straight night.

After Giannis Antetokounmpo ran through the Jazz’s undersized frontcourt on Monday to the tune of 35 points, the Warriors did their damage on the boards winning the offensive rebounding battle 15-5.

The Jazz outscored the Warriors 56-32 in the paint, but Golden State’s 25-4 advantage on second-chance points, and 27-point advantage from the three-point line proved too much to overcome.

The Warriors also capitalized on turnovers, scoring 26 points off 15 giveaways while the Jazz turned Golden State’s nine mistakes into just eight points.

“They obviously won the possession game — 15 turnovers — their physicality ramped up on the ball,” Jazz coach Will Hardy said.

Rookie Isaiah Collier had another strong outing, recording 12 points, eight assists, and six rebounds in 32 minutes, but committed four turnovers, three of which came when the Jazz had a chance to erase the Warriors lead.

“We had a couple where we were just a little bit sloppy with the ball,” Hardy added.

The Jazz trimmed the Warriors 15 point lead to one point midway through the fourth quarter, but Keyonte George missed a go-ahead three-pointer, and Golden State rebuilt the gap to four on a Moses Moody three.

The Warriors held the Jazz to just 1-7 shooting and forced three turnovers over the final six minutes to secure the game.

Isaiah Thomas Has Big Outing For Stars

With two-way contract players Elijah Harkless, Micah Potter, and Oscar Tshiebwe all in San Francisco with the Jazz’s main roster, the Salt Lake City Stars roster was largely depleted.

That proved to be a good thing for longtime NBA veteran and recent Stars signee Isaiah Thomas who scored 40 in his return to the G League.

The Stars signed Thomas on Monday and he showed few signs of rust in his debut.

Thomas shot 13-28 from the floor including 4-10 from three and 5-5 from the free throw line. The two-time NBA All-Star also added eight assists and two steals in the Stars ‘ 122-115 loss to the Valley Suns.

The guard’s ability to stuff the stat sheet is nothing new for the Stars. In four G League games last season, Thomas averaged 32.5 points, 5.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 40 percent from the floor and 44 percent from the three-point line.
