SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz announced that they are shutting down big man Kyle Filipowski for the remainder of the Vegas Summer League.

The sophomore center has played in all six Jazz summer league games, including appearances in three contests during the Salt Lake City Summer League.

Kyle Filipowski Wraps Vegas Summer League

The Jazz shut Filipowski down after an impressive stretch of games in Vegas.

The Duke product is the league’s leading scorer at 29.3 points per game, including a 32-point and a 35-point outing over the first week of competition.

Filipowski is shooting an efficient 56 percent from the floor and 39 percent from the three-point line, while adding 7.7 rebounds per game.

The former second-round pick also had a strong showing in Salt Lake City, averaging 17.0 points and 11.3 rebounds while leading the Jazz to an undefeated record.

Filipowski’s play comes on the heels of a promising debut season in which he averaged 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds in 72 appearances, narrowly missing out on the All-Rookie second-team.

Though summer league play isn’t a direct indicator of regular season success, Filipowski will be a leading contender to join Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler in the Jazz’s frontcourt due to the absence of the recently traded John Collins and the injury rehabilitation of Taylor Hendricks.

Jazz Learn Tip-Time For Final Summer League Game

The Jazz will play two more games in Vegas without Filipowski.

On Wednesday, the Jazz will face the Washington Wizards in their final regularly scheduled summer league appearance.

The team announced that Ace Bailey (hip flexor soreness), Walt Clayton Jr. (hamstring soreness), and RJ Luis (knee soreness) would miss the matchup with the Wizards.

Earlier in the week, the league announced that the Jazz would conclude summer league play against the Chicago Bulls on Friday in a consolation game for teams who did not qualify for the Vegas playoffs.

Wed: 7/16 – Jazz vs. Wizards – 8 p.m. ESPN

Fri: 7/18 – Jazz vs. Bulls – 6 p.m. NBA TV
