SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Future Utah Jazz point guard Mike Conley read a heartfelt letter to the Memphis Grizzlies fans as he departs for Utah to join the Jazz.

He read his letter that was posted on Twitter by “Uninterrupted,” which is an athlete empowerment brand founded by LeBron James.

Conley spent 12-years with the Grizzlies before being traded to the Jazz in exchange for Jae Crowder, Kyle Korver, Grayson Allen, the 23rd pick in last week’s NBA Draft and a future first round pick.

“Dear Memphis, can you believe it’s been 12 years?” Conley said. “Me neither. Feels like just yesterday when we first met. I was just a 19-year old kid then, ready to conquer the world. You wanted me, you picked me, you nurtured and loved me.”

Conley was drafted as the fourth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft out of Ohio State. He has spent 12 seasons in Memphis, appearing in 788 games and started 758.

“We had our highs: draft night, our first conference championship series, wins, awards, records,” Conley said. “Then we had our lows: playoff heartbreak, injuries, old faces traded and retired. We made friends along the way as well: Marc (Gasol), Z-Bo (Zach Randolph), Tony (Allen), Rudy (Gay), and even Vince Carter. We grew up together, we shared the experiences.”

Through his career, he averaged a career 14.9 points, 5.7 assists and 3 rebounds per game.

“We did some real good, raising funds and awareness for organizations who are dedicated to helping those in need,” Conley said. “I will never forget all these memories, the passion, the love I have for you. But, all good things must come to an end.”

This past season was his best offensive performance with a career-high 21.1 points to go with 3.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.

“As my journey continues in Utah, I wish you nothing but happiness,” Conley mentioned. “They say it is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all. I say it is better to love and win, always yours, Mike Conley.”
