HOUSTON, Texas – Following the Houston Rockets dominating 122-90 win over the Utah Jazz in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs, there are many flaws to take away from the loss for the Jazz.

One of the takeaways was the quiet performance of Donovan Mitchell.

Although he scored 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, the second year leading scorer shot 7-of-18 from the field and had 5 turnovers to go with 0 assists. Mitchell didn’t seem like the player that is averaging 23 points per game during the regular season and a player that can take over games in the second half.

The tough night started with him losing his shoe, sporting his new signature Adidas shoe in the first quarter where he was delayed getting back on defense to get his shoe back on.

Mitchell had scored 5 points in the opening period, 2 points on 1-of-4 shooting in the second quarter, 8 points in the third period and 4 points in the final quarter.

The Jazz had their best quarter come in the third quarter, when they outscored the Rockets 27-24, that was Mitchell’s best quarter.

He had five of the Jazz 18 turnovers, the Rockets capitalized with 24 points off of the miscues.

Last season in the playoffs, Mitchell averaged 24.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
