NBA Teams Must Designate Participation Status Day Before Game

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The NBA told teams in a memo on Sunday that they must designate a participation status for each player on their roster by 3 p.m. MT on the day before a game.

According to ESPN’s Marc Spears, the team must put the participation status in the portal identifying a player injury, illness or the potential of a player resting.
Spears noted that the rule does not apply for the second game of a back-to-back.

The league told teams that they can only use the following participation statuses:
- Available
- Probable
- Questionable
- Doubtful
- Out
Teams will no longer be allowed to use the term “day-to-day.”
Stadium and The Athletic NBA Insider Shams Charania reported that the league informed teams of a new box score listing for a player who is out due to coronavirus. It is “NWT (Not With Team)-Self Isolating.”

That code can also apply to a player who is needing to quarantine for a given reason. Charania reported that the NBA told the teams that on Sunday.
The Utah Jazz will play their final scrimmage on Monday at 3:30 p.m. MDT against the Brooklyn Nets on AT&T SportsNet. Then they will begin the NBA restart on Thursday, July 30 at 4:30 p.m. MDT versus the New Orleans Pelicans on TNT and AT&T SportsNet.
