Quin Snyder Reportedly Not A Lakers Coaching Finalist

SALT LAKE CITY – Quin Snyder is not listed among names being reported as finalists for the Los Angeles Lakers head coaching opening.
On Friday, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the Lakers had trimmed their coaching search down to three, and it didn’t include Snyder.

Snyder was named a potential replacement for Frank Vogel after the former Lakers coach was dismissed immediately following the end of the regular season.
Along with the Jazz head coach, Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers, Los Angeles Clippers coach Ty Lue, and Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse were also rumored to be in the Lakers crosshairs.
Like Snyder however all of those coaches are under contract with their current teams, and the Lakers have turned their attention to more easily available coaches.
About Quin Snyder
Snyder is in his eighth season overseeing the Jazz and has led the team to their sixth consecutive playoff appearance.
The coach finished third last season in Coach of the Year voting after leading the Jazz to the best record in the regular season and oversaw Lakers star LeBron James team during the 2021 All-Star game in Atlanta.
Snyder previously worked for the Lakers in 2011-12 under coach Mike Brown before departing Los Angeles to coach for CSKA Moscow.
With the Jazz, Snyder has a coaching record of 372-264 with three opening-round playoff series wins. The Jazz finished with the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a record of 49-33 this season.
Along with the Lakers, Snyder’s name was also tied to the San Antonio Spurs when Hall of Fame head coach Gregg Popovich retires.

In his end-of-season availability, Snyder wouldn’t elaborate on his future with the Jazz.
“I continue to maintain that I am not going to discuss my contractual situation publicly,” Snyder said. “It’s not something I want to do or am comfortable doing.”
Reports indicate that Snyder is under contract with the Jazz for one more season and has yet to sign an extension.
