SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Leading up to Game 4 of their series against the Houston Rockets and with their backs against the wall, Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder doesn’t need to motivate his team as they trail the series 3-0.

“We are in a situation where we have to win for our season to continue,” Snyder said ahead of Game 4. “I think it’s important and as much as being ready, I think the competitiveness that we started Game 3 with in getting a good start is important,” he added.

Getting Off To A Good Start…Again

After struggling in the first quarter in the first two games of the series, the Jazz played their best quarter of the series in the first quarter of Game 3 on Saturday. They outscored the Rockets 30-28 in that period.

“That’s something that we need to key on and remember,” Snyder said about the importance of a good start in Game 4. “A big part of it for us is we are getting better shots than any team in the playoffs statistically. We are getting open looks. You can’t stop taking them and thinking they are not good shots because they are,” he added.

Like Game 3, Snyder said that it is important to score in transition when they force turnovers for Houston or getting stops on the defensive end and scoring off of those plays.

Unique Series

Coach Snyder mentioned that their series with the Rockets is very unique because of the way they are playing offensively.

“James Harden is such a unique matchup that they basically decided that they are not going to play pick-and-roll,” he mentioned. “He [Harden] doesn’t need that. He is that good at beating his man,” Snyder added.

Harden is coming off of a 3-for-20 shooting performance in Game 3, including 15 straight misses to start the game.

The Jazz and Rockets will tip-off Game 4 on Monday at 8:30 p.m. on TNT.
