Utah Jazz Drop 20th Straight Road Game In Loss To Hawks

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz dropped their 20th straight road game, falling to the Atlanta Hawks 147-134.
Keyonte George scored a career-high 35 points while Isaiah Collier added 17 points and 12 assists.

If it hadn’t already, Sunday’s loss was a sign that the Jazz’s season has officially spun out of control.
While the franchise hasn’t been actively trying to win as many games as possible since very early in the season, the latest stretch has hit a new low.
The Jazz have lost 19 of their last 20 games, including nine straight dating back to March 19.
This is the 10th time a team has scored at least 80 points in the first half of a game this season.
Jazz and Warriors are the only teams that have allowed it to happen twice.
Clippers also hung 81 on the Jazz in December in what was probably their worst performance this year.

The loss to the Hawks was their 20th straight on the road, tied for the longest streak since the organization moved to Utah, and their longest since 1981.
The New Orleans Jazz once lost 28 straight road games during the 1974-75 season.
Over their last three games, the Jazz have allowed opponents to score 143 points, 140 points, and 147 points, becoming only the sixth team in NBA history to give up three consecutive 140-point outings.
That feat hadn’t occurred since the Denver Nuggets allowed it to happen twice in 1990. Denver also did it in 1982, while the Cincinnati Royals (1970) and San Francisco Warriors (1965) also suffered the lowly fate.

With three games left in the season, it may not get better for the Jazz.
The team remains just one game behind the Washington Wizards for the worst record in the NBA, a spot that would allow them to fall no further than fifth in the May 12 draft lottery.
Unless the Wizards pick up an unexpected victory in the coming week, the Jazz have little incentive to win any of their final three games.
Rebuilding is a difficult process in the NBA, and doing it by guaranteeing top-five draft picks is painful.
The pain threshold for the team and its fans is being tested as they look to lock up their lottery position.
Keyonte George Sets Career-High
Though late-season stats can be deceptive with so little at stake, George scored a new career-high, pouring in 35 points on the road in Atlanta.
The performance marked George’s third 30-point game of the season, and his sixth since entering the NBA.
“Obviously the ball was going in tonight,” George said. “At the end of the day, I think when I’m aggressive, and along with all our guards, we’re a good team.”
Collier added his 11th double-double of the season with his 17-point, 12-assist outing, while Collin Sexton recorded 27 points, six assists, and five rebounds.
“I think tonight was an example of the overall talent that Keyonte has, being able to score in a variety of ways,” Jazz coach Will Hardy said. “It’s a moment where his talent is really obvious.”
