Utah Jazz, Local Outdoor Company Partner ‘To Help Fight COVID-19’ With #OneUtah Shirts

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz and local outdoor company, Cotopaxi, partnered to sell t-shirts that say #OneUtah and will use the proceeds to “help fight COVID-19.”

“Our companies share a commitment to helping Utah thrive. We hope that by joining forces we can help Utah overcome the challenges COVID-19 has placed on our communities,” said Jazz president Jim Olson and Cotopaxi CEO Davis Smith.

“When you purchase a Cotopaxi #OneUtah Jazz t-shirt, you take part in this fight, because all proceeds will be directed through Silicon Slopes Serves to local partners on the battle’s frontlines, including the Intermountain Healthcare Foundation, the Utah Food Bank, and Utah’s Department of Workforce Services,” according to the outdoor company’s website.

“Fun collaboration between great organizations working to help our community,” Larry H. Miller Group of Companies CEO Steve Starks tweeted.

The shirts come in three different designs:

Mountain Logo (based on the Jazz’s classic mountain logo)
State City (based on the Jazz’s “City Edition” jerseys)
State Retro (Classic Jazz colors and an outline of the state of Utah)

Each design comes in both women’s and men’s sizes.

“As two Utah-based organizations, we’re resolved to help Utahans overcome this crisis,” Cotopaxi’s website reads. “Your shirt purchase supports the fight against COVID-19 in Utah.”

Fans can purchase the collaborative t-shirts from either Cotopaxi or the Utah Jazz Team Store. Youth shirts and onesies are currently only listed for pre-order from Cotopaxi’s site.

Cotopaxi was founded in Salt Lake City in 2014.

How Do I Prevent It?

The CDC has some simple recommendations, most of which are the same for preventing other respiratory illnesses or the flu:

Avoid close contact with people who may be sick
Avoid touching your face
Stay home when you are sick
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

The CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

If you’re worried you may have COVID-19, you can contact the Utah Coronavirus Information Line at 1-800-456-7707 to speak to trained healthcare professionals. You can also use telehealth services through your healthcare providers.

Additional Resources

If you see evidence of PRICE GOUGING, the Utah Attorney General’s Office wants you to report it. Common items in question include toilet paper, water, hand sanitizer, certain household cleaners, and even cold medicine and baby formula. Authorities are asking anyone who sees price gouging to report it to the Utah Division of Consumer Protection at 801-530-6601 or 800-721-7233.
