SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz are coming off an emotional victory over the Houston Rockets. Now they have a quick turnaround on Monday evening against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Jazz beat the Rockets 114-113 after Bojan Bogdanovic drilled a three-pointer at the buzzer to give them the win. Utah is 34-18 on the season, sit in fourth place in Western Conference standings and winners of their last two games.

Dallas is coming off of 116-100 road win over the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night. They are 32-21 on the year and are tied for sixth place in the West.

This will be the second meeting between these two teams with Utah taking the first matchup of the season back on Saturday, January 25 in Salt Lake City. Rudy Gobert blocked the Mavericks’ chances of tying the game in the final minute when he rejected former Ute and current Mavs guard Delon Wright’s layup off the backboard. The Jazz picked up a 112-107 win.

After the clash on Monday night, the two teams will meet one more time in Dallas on Thursday, March 26.

No Doncic, Possibly No Porzingis

The Mavericks have already announced that star guard Luka Doncic will not play in Monday’s game against the Jazz as he is still recovering from an ankle injury that he suffered in practice at the end of January. The team hopes to have their All-Star back to play on of their last two games before the All-Star break. He has missed the last six games.

Doncic is averaging 28.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists this season. In the first meeting against Utah, Doncic finished with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists.

Fellow teammate Kristaps did not play in the Mavericks’ last game against the Hornets. His status for Monday night is unknown. He posted 15 points and 2 rebounds in the loss to Utah in January.

The Mavericks are 3-3 during this stretch without Doncic. Porzingis led the team in scoring in three of those games, scoring over 30 points in all three contests. Jalen Brunson led Dallas in scoring once and Seth Curry in the last two games.

Jazz Hope To Finish Stretch Strong Before All-Star Break

After getting through a stretch where they lost five straight games, the Jazz have won their last two games, including a key win in Houston where they lost seven of the last eight games in “Clutch City” before Sunday evening.

The Jazz will play Dallas on Monday before returning home for a clash with the Miami Heat on Wednesday. After that, the Jazz will head to the All-Star break where they will have 9 days between games.

A positive for the Jazz is that when they return home on Wednesday, they will play six straight games at home.

In Utah’s last five games, four different players have led the team in scoring.

Tip-off between the Jazz and Mavericks is at 6:30 p.m. and will be televised on AT&T SportsNet.
