Vivint SmartHome Arena Phasing Out Cash Payment

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz fans and concert-goers alike will no longer be able to use cash to make purchases at Vivint SmartHome Arena.
The change was made in order to speed up transactions to keep lines moving quickly, according to the company.
Beginning on October 5, the Jazz’s first preseason home game, select food and drink stops will stop taking cash. The change will be in full effect by the Spring of 2020.
To get you back to the action faster, new credit and mobile payment-only options are coming to select #VivintArena dining experiences beginning Saturday, October 5 with the first @utahjazz preseason game.

“We are constantly looking for ways to innovate the guest experience and our pilot program this summer has shown that a cash-free environment results in faster moving lines and increased fan satisfaction,” said Jim Olson, president of Vivint Smart Home Arena. “This conversion to cash-free zones will increase the efficiency of arena operations, allowing for a better fan experience.”
The arena will accept credit, debit and prepaid cards – along with Jazz Notes, Utah Jazz + Vivint Arena app wallet, loaded tickets and food vouchers, according to a press release.
Don’t worry if you only brought cash, there will be cash to card machines dispersed throughout the arena where you can put your cash onto a prepaid card for free.
“We believe our fans will appreciate and adapt quickly to the cash-free concession stands, and there will be plenty of signage in the arena to indicate the payment options,” Olson said. “Whether it is a game, concert or show, our intent is for guests to enjoy their dining experience and not miss any of the entertainment.”

- Dippin’ Dots
- Hop Shop
- Totally Nutz
- Farr Ice Cream
- Chick-fil-a
- Summit Snacks
- Corona Cantina
- Tenders
- Bon Bon
All beverage sales in the Toyota Club will also be cash-free.
The Jazz open the preseason against the Adelaide 36ers on Saturday, October 5. The team’s first regular-season home game is against the Thunder on October 23.
