Woj: Jazz To Host Massive Pre-Draft Workout

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz are planning to host a massive pre-draft workout with the Minnesota Timberwolves according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The event will be held in Minnesota on July 8-11 and will feature 48 different players over the duration of the workout.
“The Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz are hosting group pre-draft workouts in Minneapolis July 8-11, sources tell ESPN,” Wojnarowski tweeted. “The goal is having 48 players participate over a four-day period. The workouts will be open to all 30 teams.”

The workout is unique compared to past seasons, including last year when most pre-draft work was done video existing game tape and video interviews with potential draftees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In previous seasons, the Jazz have hosted larger group workouts of up to six draft-eligible players, allowing the team to run three on three drills during the sessions.
The Jazz season ended last week, and to date, have yet to announce another pre-draft workout. After their playoff run ended, team representatives traveled to Chicago for the annual pre-draft combine which runs from June 21-29.
This year’s predraft rules are different from previous years. Potential draftees are required to have at least three days off between workouts and must prove that the player has a negative COVID-19 test before the workout.
However, if a player can prove that they have been vaccinated they can to skip the COVID-19 test prior to their workout.
NBA sent its teams the guidelines and health-safety protocols for predraft process ahead of July 29 Draft amid ongoing pandemic. Two notable rules:
– Teams are not allowed to attend Agency Pro Days or workout organized by player/rep

Additionally, teams can’t attend pro days for a player organized by the player’s representation unless it was already set up in conjunction with the June combine.
The NBA Draft will be held on July 29 where the Jazz own the 30th overall pick.
