SALT LAKE CITY — Both BYU and Utah football saw some small progression in the week 13 AP Top 25 college football poll, which was released on Sunday.
The Cougars jumped one spot following their win over TCU, and the Utes climbed two spots after the blowout against Baylor.

Coming off its first loss of the season, BYU football left no doubt in week 12.
Led by quarterback Bear Bachmeier and an elite defensive performance, the Cougars led by double digits for over 75 percent of the game. Bachmeier knocked on the door of 300 yards passing, and running back LJ Martin added a TD to his 88 yards on the ground.
Although the Horned Frogs are far from a powerhouse, they are also far from a pushover. TCU is already bowl-eligible and has a puncher’s chance against Houston and Cincinnati to close out the season. A solid bounce-back win from BYU saw them creep closer to the top ten.

Speaking of leaving no doubt, that’s exactly what the Utes did in Waco yesterday.
Utah dropped a season-high 55 points and was dominant on the ground from start to finish. They had three touchdowns from 60 yards or further, all of which were rushes.
Quarterback Devon Dampier didn’t look quite like himself, but it wasn’t an issue as true freshman QB Byrd Ficklin stepped in and shone.
Most importantly, though, Utah football kept its College Football Playoff dreams alive with the 55-28 routing of the Bears.

The Rest of The Big 12 Rankings
Once again, four Big 12 schools find themselves in the AP Top 25.
Texas Tech still leads the way, jumping all the way up to a tie for 6th this week. BYU and Utah follow up at No. 11 and No. 13, respectively. And a new addition to the rankings, Houston snuck in at No. 25.
Two other conference programs received votes. Arizona State is unofficially ranked at No. 29, and Arizona got some love with nine votes.
