Former BYU Center Aly Khalifa Has Eligibility Request Denied By NCAA

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU center Aly Khalifa requested a one-year eligibility extension to play his fourth collegiate season, but the NCAA denied his request.
Following the decision, it was announced that the University of Louisville would appeal.

Khalifa played one season in Provo in 2023-2024. He transferred to Louisville but didnt play a single minute with a knee injury.
He began his college career in Charlotte in 2020, where he redshirted the 2020-2021 season. Khalifa has been in college for five years, but he has played just three seasons of basketball.
Louisville believes that as he continues his work towards a master’s degree, he should be eligible to play a fourth and final season.

It was reported that during his rehab, Khalifa had lost over 50 pounds.
The Cardinals finished last season 2nd in the ACC with a record of 27-8. When he returned, Khalifa was expected to assume a big role with the team.
Aly Khalifa Thanks BYU After Transferring To Louisville
The Alexandria, Egypt native spent one year at BYU. He picked the Cougars last spring after heavy interest from the Florida Gators. Khalifa played the entire season through a knee injury yet still emerged as the nation’s top passing big man with an assist/turnover ratio of 3.59.
Khalifa averaged 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds last season.
Before announcing his commitment to the Cardinals, Khalifa posted on his social media channels, thanking Cougar fans for his time at BYU.
