BYU Basketball’s Big 12 Schedule Set For 2025-26 Season

PROVO, Utah – The most anticipated season in BYU basketball is quickly approaching.

To build up the excitement, the Big 12 unveiled its schedule for the 2025-26 season.

Big 12 moves back to an 18-game league schedule

We already knew the matchups. This schedule reveal showed us the dates and how the 18-conference games will stack up in year two under head coach Kevin Young.

The Big 12 is making a return to the previous format after one year of playing a 20-game schedule.

BYU will open the 2026 Big 12 basketball schedule on the road at Kansas State on January 3. It will be BYU’s first visit to Manhattan since 2024.

The first Big 12 home game at the Marriott Center this season will be the same as it was last year, hosting Bobby Hurley’s Arizona State Sun Devils. BYU will host ASU on Wednesday, January 7.

Then, three days later, on Saturday, January 10, BYU travels north to take on its rival, Utah, at the Huntsman Center. BYU hasn’t won in Salt Lake City since 2021.

Last year, BYU had a January road game against the University of Utah. They didn’t play the Utes again until the regular season finale in March. This season, the two games between BYU and Utah will take place in 14 days.

BYU will host the Alex Jensen-led Utes in Provo on Saturday, January 24.

Other notable games on the Big 12 schedule include two meetings against Texas Tech. BYU will travel to United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday, January 17. The Red Raiders, who return defending Big 12 Player of the Year JT Toppin, will then travel to Provo for BYU’s “Senior Day” on Saturday, March 7.

BYU will face Kansas and five-star recruit Darryn Peterson on Saturday, January 31, at Allen Fieldhouse. The Cougars have won their first two meetings against Kansas since joining the league.

BYU will host defending National Runner-Up Houston on February 7. The Coogs have the potential to be ranked as a preseason No. 1 team for the 2025-26 campaign.

BYU also has a pair of games against the Arizona Wildcats. The Wildcats will travel to Provo for BYU’s first ESPN “Big Monday” game since 2005 on Monday, January 26. Then, BYU returns to the McKale Center on Wednesday, February 18.

Another game that should be a must-see matchup is Tuesday, February 10, when BYU travels to Foster Pavilion to take on the Baylor Bears in Waco. BYU star guard Rob Wright transferred to the Cougars after one season with Baylor last year.

BYU basketball is entering its third year in the Big 12 Conference.

In each of the past two years, BYU has advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Last season, BYU basketball reached its first Sweet 16 in 14 years.
