College Gameday Crew Give Predictions For BYU/Arizona Game

TUCSON, Ariz. – For the first time in 2025, a game involving BYU football reached the “Saturday Selections” on ESPN’s College Gameday.

BYU’s Big 12 road tilt at Arizona tonight was discussed by the Gameday crew, which includes Kirk Herbstreit and Pat McAfee.

ESPN College Gameday picks for BYU vs. Arizona

Herbstreit was making his pick from a plane as he was en route to the Cotton Bowl to call the Red Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma this afternoon.

The well-received college football pregame show was on location at the University of Oregon, where the Oregon Ducks are hosting the Indiana Hoosiers in a Big Ten matchup.

Joining the Gameday crew on the set as the celebrity guest picker was former Oregon Ducks women’s basketball standout, current WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu.

Here were their picks for BYU-Arizona:

• Sabrina Ionescu: BYU
• Pat McAfee: BYU
• Kirk Herbstreit: BYU

Pat McAfee was nervous that everyone on the set picked BYU.

“I like BYU. Their freshman quarterback is named Bear; he’s very good at football,” McAfee said.

Herbstreit from up in the sky said, “I love BYU. I love the story of Bear Bachmeier, the freshman, when their quarterback was asked to leave the school. Nobody thought they’d be 5-0, and this is their first real test in Tucson. I think they find a way to get it done.”

Last season, eight of BYU’s 13 games reached the “Saturday Selections” portion of College Gameday.
