PROVO, Utah – For the first time, BYU football has a player availability report going into a game.

The availability report was released on Wednesday night as BYU continues preparations for its Big 12 opener against the Colorado Buffaloes.

All Big 12 teams are required to release player availability reports for conference matchups. This is the first year that the Big 12 implemented this reporting.

There will be daily reports, along with a final update 90 minutes before kickoff.

Keep in mind, these reports are not exclusive to injuries.

The availability of a player could also be affected by suspension due to academic or off-the-field issues.

Players battling an illness or personal matters also factor into the ‘OUT’ designation for the availability report in a given week. However, injured players play a key role in these availability reports.

The other designations include doubtful, questionable, probable, and available.

If a player is listed as doubtful, the Big 12 states that they have a 25% chance of playing. A questionable rating would equal a 50% chance of playing, while a probable rating is 75%, and an available listing is set up with the expectation that the player has a 100% chance of playing.

BYU enters the matchup with Colorado at No. 25 in the AP Top 25 and boasts a perfect 3-0 record. Colorado enters the game with a 2-2 overall record and 0-1 mark in Big 12 play.

Kickoff for Saturday night at Folsom Field is at 8:15 p.m. (MT), with extended pregame coverage beginning at 6 p.m. on KSL NewsRadio.

Here is BYU’s initial player availability report for Saturday against the Buffs.

  • Jojo Phillips, WR
  • Sione Moa, RB
  • Choe Bryant-Strother, LB

BYU offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick noted that his offense took “a few lumps” in the win over East Carolina.
