TV designation announced for early-morning BYU-Utah rivalry game

PROVO — After BYU and Utah took care of business on Halloween, all eyes shift to the anticipated rivalry matchup at Rice-Eccles Stadium next week.
We knew the November 7 clash between the Utes and Cougars would kick off at 10 a.m. (MST) kickoff time. Now we know which channel will carry the game.
The rivalry clash, expected to be the first-ever top-10 matchup in the series, will air on ABC.

Either BYU vs. Utah or Texas vs. Missouri would occupy the ABC slot. Instead, ESPN executives picked BYU-Utah with Texas-Missouri slotted for ESPN.
BYU defeated Arizona State in Provo on Saturday, 27-20. The Utes cruised past Cincinnati on the road for a 49-25 victory to improve to 8-0. Their first 8-0 start since 2010.
BYU enters the rivalry matchup at 7-1 overall and 4-1 in Big 12 play.
The last time these heated in-state rivals squared off in a kickoff window outside of the evening was in 2015 in the Las Vegas Bowl. Before that, the last regular-season, non-night kickoff between the teams was in 2010, when they were in the Mountain West Conference together.
BYU has won the last three meetings in this rivalry. The last time BYU won four straight against the Utes was in 1992.
Before BYU’s three-game win streak that dates back to 2021, Utah had won nine straight in the rivalry. Utah leads the all-time series 59-34-4, dating back to 1922, according to BYU’s record books.
Utah’s record books have the Utes holding an all-time record at 62-37-4 over the Cougars, with games dating back to 1896.
