SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – As the college football season creeps closer and closer, the SportsBeat Afterhours podcast hosted by Hema Heimuli Jr. and Zak Hicken discussed the best uniforms that the BYU Cougars have worn in their history.
They were joined by sports.ksl.com digital producer and Magna native Trevor Allen. Besides talking about favorite types of bacon, steaks and other meats… they talked about BYU and Utah football.
Former Ute Zane Beadles retired after nine years in the NFL, playing with the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos.
BYU and ESPN are finishing talks in contract renewal, details will probably be announced on media day, June 18th.
Heimuli and Hicken speculate on possible big news from BYU Media day. Rumors are circulating that BYU is going to debut an all white uniform combination, with royal blue trim. The group discusses their favorite BYU uniform combinations.
For Hemuli, it’s the Cougar’s all royal with white trim. His second is the white tops, navy bottoms, “it’s a super classic look.”

Brigham Young Cougars linebacker Sione Takitaki (16) gets fired up with the rest of the BYU defense after making a tackle during the Wisconsin versus BYU football game at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, WI in Salt Lake City on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018.

Hicken picked almost the opposite of Hemuli, his first choice being the all white with navy trim. Hicken heard rumors that BYU could be adding an all white with royal trim. Second choice being the royal top, white pants “it looks really clean. I’m a big fan of that.”

Allen even chimed in, he does like the look of the all royal uniforms as well.
