BYU Fumbles Away Playoff Chance, Gets Blown Out In Big 12 Championship

PROVO, Utah – It was all Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship as the No. 11 BYU Cougars lost for the second time against the Red Raiders in 2025, falling 34-7.
BYU falls to 11-2 overall and 8-2 in Big 12 play.

The Cougars are almost certainly eliminated from reaching the CFB Playoff through an at-large bid. BYU will learn its 2025 bowl fate on Sunday, December 7.

The Cougars’ injury report is pretty clean as they head into conference championship weekend.
Tight end Keayan Nead is the only Cougar listed, receiving a game-time decision designation.

Linebacker Max Alford returns to the defensive lineup after missing the previous two games.
BYU also adds reinforcements on offense. Wide receiver Chase Roberts returns after sitting out last weekend’s win over UCF. Running back Sione Moa also returns to the lineup after missing the past nine games.

BYU's defense gave up three first downs and let Texas Tech get into BYU territory, but ultimately got the stand.
On third down, BYU called a timeout and brought in their edge rushers to bring in heat in Nusi Taumoepeau and Tausili Akana.
