BYU Offensive Line Coach Giving Away His Personal Football Tickets

PROVO, Utah – BYU offensive line coach Eric Mateos is giving away his personal tickets to BYU football home games for the remainder the 2019 season.
Mateos, a first-year coach for the Cougars is giving fans the opportunity to get tickets to his seats at LaVell Edwards Stadium that are “pretty good.”
The OL coach announced the ticket giveaway on Twitter on Sunday, September 1.

Mateos said that idea came to him while at lunch with his mother discussing his first BYU home game.
“Was sitting at lunch with my mom today and she made the comment that our BYU student section was the best she’s seen and that our game-day environment was amazing,” Mateos wrote, “I agree. My first time in LaVell Edwards Stadium was really special (yes it would have been much better with a win).”
BYU fell to rival Utah in their season opener on August 29 by a score of 30-12.
Giving Back
The new Cougar coach was hired in February 2019 after spending two seasons as the offensive line coach at Texas State.

Although he’s new in Provo he’s already impressed with the Cougar faithful and wants to give back. “That being said, I want to provide more BYU faithful with their FIRST experience in LES. Being a single guy with no local relatives, my tickets would likely go unused and we can’t have any empty seats!” said Mateos.
Mateos is hoping to find people who can experience the type of joy he did at college football games in his youth. “We never had the means to go to a bunch of games growing up, but the ones I did go to were so special,” said the OL coach.
The offensive line coach asks that anyone interested in the tickets reply to his tweet or “DM with nominations for yourself or someone you love that has never experienced a BYU game in LES.”
Giveaway Rules
There are a couple of caveats to Mateos’ offer.
First, the fans he chooses “will get 2 of my tickets to a remaining home game starting with Washington” but not the USC game as those are already going to his brothers and a friend.
Second, due to NCAA rules Mateos “can’t provide tickets to recruitable student-athletes or family members of them.”
Although Mateos is still green in his time with the white and blue, he is appreciative of the hospitality everyone has given him and is happy to give back.
“Thanks to everyone that’s made me feel at home here so far & I am happy to give opportunities to those that truly bleed BLUE. Go Cougars!” said Mateos.
Mateos and the Cougars head on the road to face the Tennesse Volunteers in their second game of the season. The game is on Saturday, September 7 at 5 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN and KSL NewsRadio 102.7 and 1160 AM.
