BYU RB Jackson McChesney Turns On Jets For First Career TD Run

AMHERST, Mass. – There was uncertainty regarding the BYU running back position entering Saturday’s game against the 1-10 UMass Minutemen due to the injuries with Sione Finau and Emmanuel Esukpa. But BYU’s backup running backs have stepped up in a big way against the Minutemen, including true freshman Jackson McChesney.
McChesney, a true freshman out of Lone Peak High School in Alpine, scored his first career touchdown as a BYU Cougar against UMass on Saturday.

One of the fastest players on the BYU football team, McChesney showed off his elite speed in the second quarter of BYU’s dominating performance in Amherst. McChesney took a handoff from quarterback Zach Wilson and ran 44 yards for a touchdown to put BYU up 35-0 over the Minutemen.
BYU fans have to be excited about the future of McChesney because Cougar fans will see the Alpine, Utah native for the next four years. This game against UMass is McChesney’s second game appearance of his true freshman season. He will play out the rest of the season and still maintain his redshirt status this year. Making him a redshirt freshman in 2020.
