BYU Women’s Soccer Goes Into SEC Country, Shuts Out Missouri

PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s soccer is making themselves comfortable against competition from the SEC. The No. 14 Cougars won their fourth consecutive game (dating back to 2019) against an SEC team with a 3-0 win over Missouri.

“It was a great win for us tonight against a really good team on the road,” said BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood. “I thought we were sharp tonight. I like how we came out in the second half and put the match away early.”

BYU got the scoring started in the 19th minute off a Bella Folina goal that Makaylie Moore Call assisted. That was the only goal of the first period.

Then early in the second period, MAC Hermann Trophy candidate and NWSL draft pick Mikayla Colohan closed the door on any potential upset from the Tigers. Colohan scored in the 50th and 53rd minutes to put the match out of reach, with BYU up 3-0.

BYU ended the match with 29 shots, nine shots on goal. Missouri had only two shots on goal the entire night.

This was Missouri’s second non-conference game of the season. The Tigers played their SEC schedule during the fall and opted to play out of conference foes in the spring.

With the win, BYU Women’s Soccer improves to 3-2 on the season. The Cougars return to WCC play with a league tilt on Saturday afternoon against LMU on Saturday at 2 p.m. (MT).
