BYU’s Chaz Ah You Out For Remainder Of 2020 Season Due To Injury

PROVO, Utah – BYU junior defensive back/linebacker Chaz Ah You is out for the remainder of the 2020 season due to an injury. The former four-star prospect had surgery on what a BYU spokesperson called a “preexisting injury” on his lower leg.
During BYU’s spring practices this past March, Ah You had surgery on a shoulder injury that he suffered during a game last season.
Just confirmed with a spokesperson from #BYU that junior DB/LB Chaz Ah You is out for the remainder 2020 season.

Ah You is considered one of the top playmakers on a BYU defense that allowed only three points against the Navy Midshipmen in a 52-point victory for the Cougars.
Holding down the “Cinco” position in BYU’s revamped defensive scheme, Ah You had two tackles, one of which was a tackle for loss and a sack.
Ah You is the latest in a string of players that have are out for the season. The others include tight end Matt Bushman, running backs Hinckley Ropati, and Jackson McChesney.
The positive for these players, including Ah You, is that the NCAA has a blanket waiver regarding eligibility this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ah You entered this year as a true junior; he will still have three years to complete his remaining two years of eligibility as a college football player.
Replacing Chaz Ah You in BYU’s defense
The question now is who replaces Chaz at the Cinco position?
Sophomore George Udo is listed as the backup behind Ah You on BYU’s depth chart heading into Saturday night’s game against Troy. Other options include Troy Warner moving from cornerback where he played against Navy into his traditional role of strong safety that Ah You occupied against the Midshipmen.
Putting Warner back at safety would be the logical move, especially if senior cornerback Chris Wilcox is back this weekend to make his season debut. Wilcox, one of the fastest players in the program, has been brought along slowly in his return from an injury he suffered last November.
