PROVO, Utah – April might be an off month for the BYU football program, but you wouldn’t know that when you see quarterback Jaren Hall in action.

One of Hall’s distinct traits that makes him a talented quarterback is his running ability. Hall hasn’t taken a step back with his speed after bouncing back from a foot/ankle injury suffered against USC.

Jaren Hall gets up to 22.6 MPH on a treadmill

In an Instagram video shared by Elevate Chiropractic and Wellness (a company Hall has promoted on his social media accounts), Hall is seen running on a Tru Grit treadmill at 22.6 miles per hour. For perspective, anything over 10 miles per hour for the ordinary person on a treadmill is impressive. Hall is doubling that.

Elevate’s Nate Johnson wrote, “@jarenhall3 will not be caught this year! 22.6 MPH! Are you kidding me that is flying! I’m telling you right now, to watch closely because blink and you are going to miss him.”

The second-year starting QB is gearing up for a 2022 season that could be big for him and BYU’s offense. BYU boasts the second most returning production in college football this season, and a big chunk of that is coming back on the offensive side.

Because Hall is a dual-threat quarterback, many assume he’s a run-first player. That’s not the case. Hall is a pass-first QB that rarely sees Aaron Roderick dial up a run. But, if he needs to improvise or sees an opportunity, Hall can pop off a big play.

Last season, Hall rushed for 307 yards on 62 attempts and had three touchdowns a season ago.

Plans for the remainder of the offseason

Hall’s work with Elevate Chiropractic and Wellness is just one piece of the offseason work he is putting in to get ready for his fifth year with the BYU football program.

“Get into training again and get the body feeling even better; get faster and stronger,” said Hall to KSL Sports on his off-season plans before fall camp. “Go train in California with John [Beck] (3DQB) and work on my things there and then just try to perfect my craft. Also, spend some time with my quarterback coach here, Dustin Smith (QB Elite), and just anybody I can get with that can kind of help me with the time I have. So, just have as many eyes on me as I can to help me see what I can fix and to be my best self and then spend time with the family, spend time with my wife and baby, play a little golf when I’ve got time. So, just be a kid in the summer and realize there’s a lot to look forward to in my future. I’m going to go grind for that first.”

Hall and the BYU Cougars open the 2022 season on Saturday, September 3, against USF in Tampa, Florida.
