BYU Basketball Lands Big Man Noah Waterman From Portal

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball added to its frontcourt with a commitment from Noah Waterman.
Waterman is a 6-foot-11, 210-pound stretch forward from Detroit Mercy. He officially visited BYU earlier this month, just days after he was committed to St. Bonaventure.

BYU’s addition of Waterman fills the scholarship spots on Mark Pope’s 2022-23 roster.
Waterman was part of the same Detroit Mercy program the past two years that included former BYU target, Antoine Davis. Davis is staying at Detroit for his final season after landing an NIL deal with Glowballs.
Noah Waterman gives BYU a stretch four
Waterman appeared in 21 games last season, starting in 17 of those appearances. Even though he’s 6-foot-11, Waterman is someone that can knock down shots from beyond the arc. Last year he put up 96 three-point attempts, hitting 36.
Waterman has three years of college eligibility remaining. He began his college career at Niagra near his Savannah, New York, hometown. After only one year with Niagra, he transferred to Detroit Mercy for the past two seasons.

Last year at Detroit, Waterman averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds per game in 25 minutes of action. He knocked down 37.5% of his three-point attempts and also hit 56.8% from the field.
Waterman is at his best from the perimeter, freeing up the post for BYU big men such as Fousseyni Traore and Atiki Ally Atiki, who both enter their sophomore seasons this winter.
