PROVO, Utah – BYU football fall camp practices begin later today at 4 p.m. at the Student-Athlete Building practice fields on campus.  The big story heading into camp is the health of Sophomore quarterback Zach Wilson.

KSL Sports Contributor and BYUtv host Spencer Linton joined the KSL UnRivaled crew (weeknights, 7-9 pm on KSL Newsradio) to preview fall camp and Linton discussed how he spoke with Wilson recently while filming a commercial for BYUtv.  According to Linton, Wilson is confident that he’s going to be a better quarterback than what he was as a true freshman.

“Even if I’m 85 or 90-percent when the first game rolls around, I feel like overall, I am a much better quarterback than I was late in the season last year,” said Zach Wilson via Spencer Linton on UnRivaled.

Last season Wilson threw for 1,578 yards and completed 65.9% of his passes with a four to one touchdown-to-interception ratio.  What makes Wilson think he will be better this year?

“Just because of everything that I’ve done this off-season in terms of understanding the game better, timing, routes, having the coaches trust me more, I feel like 85 percent me right now is better than 100 percent me from last year,” Wilson said to Spencer Linton.

BYU head football coach Kalani Sitake said at the team’s media day back in June that Wilson would be ready to go for the season opener and he also said on Cougar Sports Saturday that Wilson would play a majority of the reps in fall camp.

Wednesday evening’s practice will mark the first organized team setting Wilson has participated in since his perfect performance in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl against Western Michigan.
