Yoeli Childs, TJ Haws Named To NABC District 9 Teams

PROVO, Utah – For the second year in a row, both Yoeli Childs and TJ Haws from BYU have earned recognition from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) by being named to the All-District 9 team.

District 9 in the NABC consists of schools in the West Coast Conference and Big West Conference.

Like last year, Childs and Haws land on the first and second teams respectively.

Childs, who was named No. 20 in the top 50 players in college basketball this season by Sports Illustrated, was joined by Gonzaga’s Filip Petrusev, Saint Mary’s Jordan Ford, Pepperdine’s Colbey Ross, and Cal State Northridge’s Lamine Diane as the District 9 first team.

In only 19 games played this season, Childs averaged 22.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game and was one of the most productive post-up players during his final year at BYU.

Haws finished his BYU career ninth in scoring and was a point guard for one of the nation’s best offenses this season. Joining Haws on the second team District 9 squad was four other players from the West Coast Conference in Malik Fitts from Saint Mary’s, Gonzaga’s Corey Kispert, Jahlil Tripp from Pacific, and Gonzaga big man Killian Tillie.
