Social Media Goes Off On Utah’s Domination Of Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffs

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah football came out swinging and never let up, rolling past Colorado 53–7 at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday. Social media went crazy with reactions to the game.
The 46-point rout marked the largest margin of victory in the long-running Rumble of the Rockies rivalry, which began in 1903. The previous high-water mark came in 2022, when Utah throttled Colorado 63–21 in Boulder.
True freshman quarterback Byrd Ficklin seized his first Week 9 start with authority, throwing for 140 yards and two touchdowns while adding 151 rushing yards and another score — a fearless debut that signaled Utah’s future might already be here.
Social media was buzzing over the first half performance by the Utes.
Look at the total yards!?! I haven’t seen numbers that lopsided since we compared snow totals with Colorado. pic.twitter.com/n6OxNoBopX

The worst Half of Football I ever coached was 2022 CU vs eventual Pac-12 Champs Utah with a healthy Cam Rising, Dalton Kincaid, Jonah Elliss, Devaughn Vele and Sione Vaki. We were down 42-0 at Halftime.
This one tonight is officially worse…

Utah outgained Colorado by a margin of 416 yards (398 to -18) in the first half tonight and leads 43-0.
We haven't seen a first-half yards margin that bad since…Utah did this to Stanford in 2021 (+412).

Can you accuse a team of running up the score before halftime? Utah called time out, blocked a punt and tacked on a field goal – Utah 43-0 over Coach Prime's Colorado at half. Just shockingly bad. Didn't see this coming, not after CU's big win over Iowa State and a bye.

Without its starting QB, Utah is beating Colorado 40-0 in the first half. Holy mercy.
I covered an Oklahoma-Missouri game that was 49-0 at halftime and ended 77-0. You can guess who was on either side of that score.

Coach Prime: “This is bad … this is probably the worst beating we’ve ever had.”
“420 yards rushing … you’re not winning.”

Utah cruises to 53-7 win over Colorado
This was pretty much it as Utah cruised through the second half. Utah added 46 yards and a field goal in the 3rd quarter.
The 4th quarter started rather interestingly, as Isaac Wilson made his debut on the season. On the very first play, Parker broke loose for 49 yards to setup the offense in Colorado territory. The drive ended in a 59-yard field goal attempt, that ended well short of the post.
With the second and third stringers in the game, the Buffs added a touchdown in the 4th quarter.
