Oluyitan, Marin Lead T-Birds To 25-Point Victory Over Sacramento State

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah Thunderbirds defeated the Sacramento State Hornets behind a combined 36 points from guards Cameron Oluyitan and Dre Marin.
The guards led the T-Birds to a 74-49 win over the Hornets at the America First Events Center on Saturday, January 18.
Oluyitan led Southern Utah with a game-high 19 points on 5-12 shooting. He shot 3-8 from behind the arc and a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Oluyitan added 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal in 33 minutes of play.

Marin was the team’s second-leading scorer with 17 points on 4-5 field goals including 3-4 from three-point range. The guard went 6-8 from the foul stripe. Marin recorded 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in 30 minutes on the court.

John Knight III poured in 13 points off the bench for SUU.
Osi Nwachukwu led the Hornets with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Southern Utah outshot Sacramento State 47.8-31.4 percent on field goals. The Thunderbirds torched the Hornets from behind the arc shooting 47.1 percent on triples compared to a dismal 17.6 percent by Sacramento State.
The T-Birds had 14 assists compared to 6 by the Hornets.
Southern Utah improved to 11-6 overall and 4-2 in Big Sky Conference games with the home win.

Sacramento State moved to 10-6 on the season and 3-4 in conference play.
The Thunderbirds have a week off before traveling to face the Eastern Washington Eagles. SUU and Eastern Washinton are scheduled to tip-off on Saturday, January 25 at 3:05 p.m. (MDT).
