Utah Football Exits, BYU Enters AP Top 25 Poll After Week Four

SALT LAKE CITY – After improving to 3-0 with a win over East Carolina, BYU football entered the week five AP Top 25 Poll at No. 25, which was released on Sunday.
It is the first time the Cougars have cracked the AP Poll this season.

Multiple Cougars players stepped up in BYU’s final non-conference contest of the season.
Quarterback Bear Bachmeier completed 18 of 25 pass attempts for 246 yards and a touchdown and running back LJ Martin took 14 carries for 101 yards and a score on the ground. On the other end, Evan Johnson snagged two interceptions.
Simultaneously, the Utah Utes fell from No. 16 to unranked after their loss to Texas Tech. The Red Raiders jumped five spots for their win in Salt Lake City.
The Rest of The Big 12 Rankings
BYU is one of four Big 12 Conference teams to make an appearance on the week five poll.
Texas Tech is the highest-ranked of the group at No. 12. Iowa State is just behind them at No. 12, and TCU also became ranked for the first time this season at No. 24.
Utah (45, 29th), Arizona State (30, 30th), and UCF (3, 35th) were other teams in the conference to receive votes.
