Wayshawn Parker Punches In First Utah Football Touchdown Of 2025

PASADENA, Calif. – Utah football sophomore running back Wayshawn Parker bounced a rush to the outside and cruised into the end zone for the first Utes touchdown of 2025.
It was also Parker’s first touchdown in a Utah jersey. He transferred in from Washington State this offseason.

The extra point kick was missed, leaving the score at 6-0.
The TD was Parker’s third touch on an efficient 11-play, 75-yard drive. He also picked up a first down on the second play of the season with a 12-yard rush.
Parker and NaQuari Rogers split the halfback reps on the opening possession.
Quarterback Devon Dampier connected on three of his four passing attempts for 30 yards. He also scrambled for 12 more yards.

Utah Football Looks To Start Strong Against UCLA
Utah football opens its 2025 season in the Rose Bowl against the Big Ten’s UCLA Bruins today.
With a new offensive coordinator, a new quarterback, and several key returners on the offensive line and defense, the Utes aim to bounce back from a disappointing inaugural Big 12 season.
Their first opponent: former Pac-12 rival UCLA. This will be the first non-conference meeting between these schools since 2007. The Utes are 6-1 in their last 7 meetings with the Bruins. This includes three wins in their last four trips to the Rose Bowl.
