SALT LAKE CITY — In a surprising move, Utah wide receiver Zacharyus Williams elected to enter the transfer portal, first reported by On3’s Pete Nakos.
After one season at Utah, which included 10 appearances and 10 catches for 101 yards, Williams will look for an opportunity elsewhere.

Zacharyus Williams to the transfer portal
The decision to enter the portal comes after Williams emerged as the top receiver for Utah. Williams had a productive spring and seemed poised for a big role in the offense, which only makes the decision to transfer more surprising.
The receiver position was considered a top priority at the conclusion of spring ball, and with Williams’ entry into the portal, it significantly increases the need.
Utah has nearly completely revamped its wide receiver room with the addition of five new players who joined the program in January.
Now, Utah will likely need to bring in two receivers in the spring portal window.

With Williams entering the portal, he joins cornerbacks Sammie Hunter and Quimari Shemwell, as well as quarterback Wyatt Becker.
Utah has landed cornerback JC Hart, and seems close to landing another cornerback, Jaylen Moson.
The Utes will also welcome McNeese State receiver Jer’Michael Carter to campus for a visit on Thursday. Effort will likely ramp up with receiver prospects now that Williams has entered the portal.
