LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head football coach Blake Anderson was pleased with the energy his players brought in the first spring practice of 2021.

Utah State held their first spring football practice under new head coach Blake Anderson on Monday afternoon.

Anderson spoke with the media after practice concluded.

“The energy was good,” Anderson stated. “I thought the guys tried to give us what we wanted. They don’t know what that is yet. I have coaches that don’t know exactly what I want yet, that is going to take a little time and obviously the players trying to figure out what we want. Our attitudes are great, you could tell that they were excited about being on the field. It gives us an idea of what to work on. We will watch tape and dissect it. I think we have a lot of work to do but as I told them at the end, if they come up with that kind of attitude and they’ll work with that kind of work ethic, we’ll have a chance. We just need to get to know each other which will take some practice.”

Anderson and his staff will have to figure out this offseason who will start at key positions. Such as the quarterback with Andrew Peasley returning as the 2020 starter, Cooper Legas was getting some buzz last season and Anderson brought in his QB from Arkansas State in Logan Bonner. Other quarterbacks on the roster include Josh Calvin, Garrett Larson and Crew Wakley.

Utah State will open the 2021 season on Saturday, September 4 at Washington State.
