Former Utah State Football Player Passes Away After Being Diagnosed With Cancer

LOGAN, Utah – Former Utah State safety Brian Suite has passed away after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Suite was diagnosed with stage 4 soft tissue sarcoma. The Makiki, Hawai’i native was diagnosed with cancer one month after losing his father to cancer, according to punahou.com.
Utah State head football coach Gary Andersen released the following statement on Wednesday.
“I have no words to describe how I’m feeling,” the statement read. “Brian’s family, friends, coaches and teammates have a (sic) a great one far too soon. He was an integral member of this team and of Aggie Nation that impacted the lives of all he came in contact with both off and on the field. He embodied everything that we want an Aggie to be, and his example of positivity in the face of adversity will live on. Our hearts are with his mom, Wenday, and the Suite family at this time of tremendous loss.”

According to a GoFundMe page set up for Suite back in October 2019, Suite’s stage 4 soft tissue sarcoma is an extremely rare form of cancer which affects fewer than one percent of one percent of all people with cancer.
Suite played for Utah State from 2010-14. As a freshman in 2010, Suite redshirted. He missed the following season due to injury. In 2013, Suite started all 14 games and was named All-Mountain West honorable mention. As a senior in 2014, Suite earned honorable mention once again for a Utah State team that had tremendous success under Gary Andersen.
