SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah State quarterback Henry Colombi has found a new school to continue his college career.

Colombi will transfer to Texas Tech to reunite with former Aggie head coach Matt Wells as well as quarterback coach and offensive coordinator David Yost.

The former Utah State quarterback entered the transfer portal on July 15, shortly after former Utah quarterback Jason Shelley signed with Utah State.

Colombi announced his decision to transfer to Texas Tech on Twitter.

“First off, I would like to thank Aggie nation for welcoming me into their family 3 years ago and showing nothing but love and support. I have created a number of relationships and memories that I will cherish forever,” Colombi wrote. “Logan will always have a special place in my heart and I am thankful for my time here. The last week has been very overwhelming, and I would like to thank all of the schools who have reached out to me during this time and given me an opportunity to play for them. Through days of prayer and conversations with my family, it was clear to me that God has a plan for me and I trust him to lead me in the right direction. With that being said, I will be spending my next two years with the coaches that believed in me and my potential from the very beginning. I am very excited to announce that I am committed to Texas Tech University.”

The Hollywood, Florida native played in six games last season. He threw for 221 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

As a redshirt freshman in 2018, Colombi played in seven games, throwing for 239 yards along with 108 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Utah State coaches and fans were excited about Colombi’s future as the potential starter and with the addition of Shelley, it had the makings of a great quarterback battle.
