LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football is taking a step toward the future by installing two large video boards at Maverik Stadium ahead of the 2025 season.

Aggie football fans will enjoy a large, 39 feet tall by 68 feet wide LED display in the north end zone. The south end zone is slated to feature a 13.5-foot-high by 48-foot-wide videoboard.

“We are excited to install two new video displays at Maverik Stadium before the 2025 season, improving the game day atmosphere for Aggie Nation,” said Utah State Vice President and Director of Athletics Diana Sabau. “The increased quality will greatly improve the viewing experience and be a long-term fixture at upcoming games and other events held at the stadium.”

“This installation will bring an elevated overall experience to Utah State’s student-athletes and fans alike,” said Rusty Lenners, Daktronics sales representative. “We’re proud to partner with the university and their team to bring this project to life, and we look forward to it creating a positive impact on their game-day events for years to come.”

History of Maverik Stadium

Maverik Stadium, formerly known as Romney Stadium, has been the home of Utah State football since opening in 1968. Romney Stadium was named after Dick Romney, who spent 41 years with the school, coaching four different sports and serving as the athletics director for a time.

The stadium has undergone multiple renovations in its 57-year history. The school unveiled a four-story premium seating and press box area on the west side of the building in 2016. The expansion included more than 20 luxury suites and 640 club seats.

Improvements included expanded concourses, larger restrooms, and upgraded concession options.

Construction on the north-end Jim & Carol Laub Athletics-Academics Complex began in 2006 and was completed in 2008. The facility includes the Dale Mildenberger Sports Medicine Complex, the Dr. John Worley Sports Medicine Research Center, the Steve Mothersell Hall of Fame, an equipment room, locker rooms, coaches’ offices, meeting rooms, luxury suites, and a student-athlete academic center.

The stadium was renamed to Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium in 2015 as part of a corporate sponsorship with Maverik convenience stores.

The current seating capacity is 25,513. Utah State is 94-69 all-time at Maverik Stadium.
