Utah State Gymnastics Come Up Short On Final Rotation, Fall At Boise State

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State took a slim lead into the final rotation but couldn’t hold on, falling 196.325-195.675 against Boise State.

“Unfortunately, we did let that last rotation slip away,” said first-year Utah State head coach Kristin White. “We were on the verge of having a great 196 meet and at the end of the day, we’ve got to be mentally tough and put four events together on Friday night every single time. We just didn’t do that.”
Utah State Sets Two-Season Event Highs
Senior gymnast Alivia Ostendorf picked up her first individual title when she tied for first on the floor routine with a career-high 9.925.
“I had a good routine last week and I didn’t get the score I necessarily wanted, so I knew I could do it again,” Ostendorf said. “I was just wanting to lift up the floor score after a couple of mistakes, but I was just excited to get out there and do it for my team.”

Junior Brianna Brooks finished with the best all-around score for the second-straight week with a career best 39.200. Brooks tied for fourth on the vault (9.850), finished third on bars (9.875), finished the beam tied for eighth (9.675), and eighth on floor with a career-best 9.800.

“We started off pretty well and with a lot of energy,” Ostendorf said. “We had some ups and downs during the meet, but we kept it pretty consistent. I am really proud of this team. We did well, but we can always do better. I’m excited to come out next weekend at home and show them what we can do because we can do way better than this.”
