SAN DIEGO - MARCH 16: Brandon Roy #3 of the Washington Huskies is pressured by Jaycee Carroll #20 of the Utah State Aggies during the first round of the NCAA Finals on March 16, 2006 at Cox Arena in San Diego, California.

LOGAN, Utah –The Utah State men’s basketball program announced they will be retiring former Aggie legend Jaycee Carroll’s jersey on February 18.

The school announced the move via social media on January 4. USU plans to retire the jersey in a game at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Saturday, February 18 against the Nevada Wolfpack.

“Jaycee is one of the greatest basketball players in Aggie history and incredibly deserving of this honor,” said Interim Director of Athletics Jerry Bovee. “We are thrilled to be able to celebrate his remarkable accomplishments in front of Aggie Nation.”

Carroll will be the sixth Aggie to have his jersey hang in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. He is the first since Greg Grant finished his Utah State career in 1986. Carroll joins Bert Cook No. 6 (1950-52); Cornell Green No. 24 (1960-62); Wayne Estes No. 33 (1963-65); Marv Roberts No. 31 (1969-71); & Grant’s No. 5 (1983-86).

“My family and I are honored to be recognized with those Aggie greats that have had their jersey or number already retired,” said Carroll. “This is a dream come true for me and a tremendous honor. It’s awesome to be part of Utah State Basketball and its rich tradition of history.”

Carroll last played for Utah State in 2008.

About Jaycee Carroll

A 6’2 sharp-shooting guard out of Evanston, Wyoming, Carroll joined Stew Morrill’s Aggie team prior to the 2005 season.

College Career (2005-2008)

Carroll burst onto the Utah State scene, starting as a freshman. He went on to lead USU to a Big West Conference Tournament Championship as a freshman in 2005, and was named the tournament’s MVP. He earned Freshman All-American accolades from both CollegeInsider.com and Rivals.com.

In four seasons, Carroll was a two-time All-American, two-time first-team all-Western Athletic Conference selection and the 2008 WAC Player of the Year. As a junior, he was named an AP All-American.

Carroll is the all-time career leader at Utah State in points (2,522), field goals made (880), field goals attempted (1,721), 3-point field goals made (369), 3-point field goals attempted (793), double-figure scoring games (121), games started (132) and total minutes played (4,596).

Carroll was the Spanish League’s top scorer in 2010 and 2011 and the EuroCup’s top scorer in 2011.
