Report: Utah State, Oregon Cancel Future Football Matchups

SALT LAKE CITY – According to a report from FBS Schedules, Utah State and Oregon have mutually agreed to cancel two future football games.

The Oregon Ducks and Utah State Aggies originally scheduled a three-game series in 2020.

The scheduling agreement called for a game to be played in Eugene on September 18, 2027 and then again on September 15, 2029. The middle game was scheduled for September 16, 2028 in Logan, Utah.

“Perhaps due to that realignment, Oregon and Utah State have mutually agreed to trim two games from their scheduled three-game football series, according to a copy of the amendment obtained from Utah State University via a state public records request. The games that have been axed are the first two tilts of the set, which are the 2027 contest in Eugene and the 2028 contest in Logan,” reads the report from FBS Schedules.

The matchup left on the agreement is scheduled to be played in Eugene on September 15, 2029.

Conference Realignment And The Utah State Aggies

In September of 2024, the Utah State Aggies officially announced they would be leaving the Mountain West Conference in order to join the Pac-12 Conference.

“Utah State University unites alongside Boise State University, Colorado State University, California State University, Fresno, San Diego State University, Oregon State University and Washington State University to kick off conference competition with the 2026-27 season,” read a press release from the school.

Utah State will officially begin playing football as Pac-12 member for the 2026 season.

Pac-12 turmoil

The past few years have been nothing short of tumultuous for the Pac-12 Conference, starting with USC and UCLA exiting to join the Big Ten. After that, the dominos fell and other schools left as well, including the University Of Utah, which left for the Big 12.

The Oregon Ducks were one of the teams to leave the Pac-12, joining the Big Ten Conference.
