Utah State Track & Field Standout Michala Zilkey Nominated For NCAA Woman Of The Year Award

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The NCAA announced that Utah State’s Michala Zilkey has been nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Since it was created in 1991, the NCAA’s Woman of the Year award honors “graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.”
The USU track and field star joined Aggies soccer player Mealii Enos in being nominated for the award.
Zilkey is a five-time Utah State Whitesides scholar-athlete, four-time Mountain West scholar-athlete, and three-time academic all-Mountain West Conference honoree.

During her time with the Aggies’ track and field program, Zilkey recorded a personal record of 51.09 meters in the discus. The mark is No. 6 all-time in school history. She tossed a hammer 57.45 meters. That distance ranks No. 10 all-time in Utah State history.
Zilkey is one of 605 nominees for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year. She is one of 259 nominees from Division I.
Over the next few months, nominees will be narrowed down to nine finalists in September. From those finalists, the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics will choose the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year.
