SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah State Aggies’ late rally came up short as they fell on the road to Colorado State 77-72 on Wednesday night.

Utah State was within one point in the final minutes of the game but couldn’t get over the hump against a one-loss Colorado State team.

Sean Bairstow led the Aggies with 20 points, five rebounds and four steals on 8-of-15 shooting from the field in 38 minutes. Brandon Horvath chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Justin Bean posted 14 points and six rebounds. Steven Ashworth added 13 points off the bench.

Utah State shot 45% from the field, 22% from the three-point line and 81% from the free throw line. The rebounding margin was very close with the Rams getting 32 rebounds, while Utah State pulled down 31 boards.

David Roddy led Colorado State with 24 points and six rebound on 9-of-13 field goal shooting. Isaiah Stevens dropped 22 points, while Chandler Jacobs and Jalen Lake added 11 points apiece.

The Rams shot 46% from the field, 37% from beyond the arc and 85% from the charity stripe.

Utah State dropped their record to 11-5 overall and 1-2 in Mountain West play. They will return home to the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum to face Wyoming on Saturday, January 15 at 7 p.m. MT on Stadium and The Zone Sports Network.
