Utah State Blasts UTEP Miners In Second-Half Blowout

Utah State blew out the UTEP Miners in a non-conference game on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
LOGAN, Utah – Utah State basketball senior Garry Clark might be too good for a bench role after the Missouri native dominated the action in a 75-51 win over the UTEP Miners.
Clark came off the bench in the first half to score 14 points and grab five rebounds while being a constant thorn in the side of the Miners’ defense. His performance earned a start in the second half, and he did not disappoint.
The Aggies (4-0) hosted the UTEP Miners (2-2) at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Saturday, November 15.

The 6’9, 220-pound forward’s length and athleticism were no match for a UTEP front court that seemed overwhelmed from the beginning.
He scored six points and grabbed six quick boards in ten minutes of the second half to notch his third double-double in four games as an Aggie.

Clark ended the afternoon with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while hitting 10-of-16 free throws. He added three steals and three assists for good measure.
“I just try to be involved as much as I can when I’m out there,” Clark said after the win. “I want to be around the rim as much as possible, be able to create advantages for our team, offensive rebound, and defensive rebound. It’s about knowing my role and just doing it.”

With much of the Miner lineup in foul trouble, USU used a 21-5 run down the stretch to put the game out of reach.
Five Aggies joined Clark in double-figure scoring, led by 13 points from MJ Collins.
Elijah Perryman had a season-high 11 points, five assists, and two blocks in a career-best 30 minutes.
Mason Falslev, Karson Templin, and Kolby King had ten points apiece.
Swarming USU defense traps Miners
Leading 21-17 following a UTEP three with 4:11 left in the half, Utah State’s defense came alive.
Using the length of MJ Collins, Kolby King, Elijah Perryman, and the ball-hawking instincts of Mason Falslev, Jordy Barnes, and Co. helped the Aggies take control of the final four minutes.

USU took advantage of four consecutive Miner turnovers, going on an 11-0 run to build a 15-point lead.
UTEP was harassed into turning the ball over five times in the final four minutes and had 11 total giveaways in the opening 20 minutes. The Aggies capitalized, scoring 16 points on turnovers.
Utah State finished the game with 26 points off 16 Miner turnovers. The Aggies outrebounded UTEP 41-24 and finished with 11 steals.

USU has outrebounded opponents three times this year and is a perfect 4-for-4 in forcing double-figure turnovers.
“We started off kind of slow on offense, and we’ve been priding ourselves on defense the last couple days of practice,” Clark said when asked about the team’s defensive performance. “After our last game, Coach really got into us, and our defense has been our main focus. So yeah, it was a defensive battle at first.”
