SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Alamo Bowl held a moment of silence on Tuesday night in honor of Utah freshman running back Ty Jordan.

The Alamo Bowl held the moment of silence for Ty Jordan before kickoff between the Texas Longhorns and Colorado Buffaloes at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Before signing with Utah, Jordan verbally committed to play for Texas. He is Mesquite, Texas, which is less than a five hour drive south to San Antonio. Players from both Colorado and Texas were seen locking arms on the sidelines during the moment of silence.

The Buffaloes faced Jordan and the Utes earlier this season with Utah picking up a 38-21 victory in Boulder on Saturday, December 12. Jordan racked up 147 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the win.

For the second straight season, Texas won the Alamo Bowl, knocking off Colorado 55-23. The Longhorns beat the Utes 38-10 in the 2019 Alamo Bowl, handing Utah their second straight loss after falling to Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship game.

Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan expressed his appreciation on Twitter for the Alamo Bowl holding a moment of silence to honor Ty Jordan.

Jordan passed away at the age of 19 on Christmas night in Denton, Texas near his hometown to an apparent accidental self-inflicted gun shot wound. Last Saturday, the Utah Jazz held a moment of silence in honor of Jordan’s life before their home opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
